Bring Abbott to Justice

Public Citizen, an organization founded by Ralph Nader, has had serious issues with the way Meridia has been presented to the public by Abbott Labs, its manufacturer. Back in March, they called for Meridia to be pulled from the market. Now they are calling for criminal charges against the company due to Meridia-related deaths, and Abbott's lack of disclosure on the causes of those deaths. BFB reader Kbee notes that Meridia was pulled off the market in Italy this month.

There are serious issues with this drug, and the US government needs to take whatever steps to ensure that people who are looking to lose weight - or even people who think they have to lose weight - aren't putting their lives in serious jeopardy via a supposed "cure".
