Jeanne Courtney is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who helps women of all sizes develop healthier, more loving relationships with their bodies. She has been providing empathic, responsive therapy for couples and individuals since 1986. Her clinical article, "Size Acceptance as a Grief Process," was published in the Journal of Lesbian Studies in 2008. In July 2009 she was quoted in "Living Large and Loving It," an article featured in the Oakland Tribune, Contra Costa Times, and other local papers. She has presented workshops about fat acceptance at the National Lesbian Health Conference (2009), NOLOSE (2010), and in her private practice. Jeanne sees clients in San Francisco and El Cerrito.
She especially enjoys helping:
--women of all sizes who wish they could love their bodies exactly as they are
--codependents who wonder how to fit their own needs into family, work, or intimate relationships
--people who need effective ways to cope with depression, panic attacks, or anxiety
--queer folks, activists, and progressive thinkers who want to change the world as well as their own lives
