My fat history? Always been a little chubby, came to develop a positive identity as a fat person and worked on embracing my fatness while at a college on the east coast full of tons of skinny people. My senior project was a history and critique of the fat discourse in medicine/public health. Now that I'm back in the Chicago area and not in that kind of elite school environment, I realized I'm way less fat and sometimes feel weird claiming that around lots of people fatter than me when I feel like I get a lot of skinny privilege here. But I'm still down with the politics and adamant about challenging medical ideas on fatness and the hate-your-fat-body (whether or not you even are fat!) mindset.
