Joy Nash Goes 2 for 2

Pal of BFB Joy Nash has released her second in what appears to be a series (!) of Fat Rants. Check it out:

Fantastic stuff! [Thanks to sevendayswonder for the tip!]

BFB Think Tank: Chicago, November 10th! | Yeah, that's got a lot to do with programming.

OMG! I laughed all the way through this. I know there are people with OCD (I had a friend who washed his hands all the time, they were red and raw and bled occasionally), but fat people are compared to people with that disorder because obviously, we compulsively overeat and have no control over it. That is so far from the truth of the matter. Sure some people do overeat, some don't. And you can't tell who they are just by looking at them.
Rock on, Joy.

it's all right to be crazy, just don't let it drive ya nuts!

October 11th, 2007 | Link | I thought Joy was smart when

I thought Joy was smart when she did the first "Fat Rant." Now I KNOW she is! The new FR is clever and funny and blunt. Even though it's not fair to expect her to carry so much of the fat acceptance torch, I hope that she keeps making these films. They are a great way to empower those who haven't found their own voice yet.

Some people still don't get it (one comment on the new FR YouTube says "...the notion that fat people eat the same or less than thin people is demonstrably false and misleading. The reality is if you eat less and exercise more you and every other living being can and will lose weight. That is, if you want."). But I have high hopes that efforts like those of Ms. Nash will help to chip away at the misconceptions.

Yay, Joy!!

OK, that really made me laugh.

MichMurphy October 11th, 2007 | Link | This was very well-done, and

This was very well-done, and reminds me of the Kids in the Hall sketch where a group of people are gathered to 'regain control over the tyranny of (their) bladders.' It was like Urinators Anonymous or something.

I don't know how anyone doesn't get this: you can't make assumptions about a person's health or habits simply by looking at them. Or, well, you can, as long as you're comfortable being wrong a lot and looking like a moron.

October 11th, 2007 | Link | I hope this gets as much

I hope this gets as much circulation as the first one did, or more! It's hilarious, but it's also so true. It reflects how fat people are often viewed, and how we often view ourselves. I hope this is just the beginning. These are great rants and good videos. Let's hope there will be lots more!

MizB October 14th, 2007 | Link | Joy Nash Fat Rant 2

Joy Nash is my new hero. I wept with...joy...for her courage. It can't be easy to walk into a room full of strangers and admit, out loud, that you have an eating-drinking-peeing-pooping-breathing addiction. How many of us, trying desperately not to inhale from one moment to the next, find ourselves wishing we were dead because of the shame of our sickness? How often do we wait until the house is dark and silent so we can slip into the bathroom and drink an entire glass of water in one depraved swallow!? Thank you, Joy, for showing us there is a light at the end of the tunnel!!! Eye-wink (You go, fabulous girl, keep on rockin'!)

I think I loved the first Fat Rant more, but that was great. I hope she continues making videos like this. It's a great message and she says it so well.
