The Health Institute for Nutrition
I'll just be Bloated and Gloating™ and piggyback on a post from Shapely Prose on the new satire site, The Health Institute of Nutrition. Finally, a sane resource. Here's a quote from their expose on potatoes, the Deadly White Food Killer:
Here’s a true fact: a nationwide dependence on potatoes as a food source in Ireland directly led to one million deaths between 1845 and 1849 and led to many more grossly obese people fleeing the country for the distant, then-healthy shores of America.
Unfortunately, these new “Irish-Americans” brought their fondness for potatoes and godless idolatry with them. For years, America was able to keep obesity at bay through discriminatory hiring practices and the occasional pogrom, but Ireland’s deadly little secret is now firmly entrenched in our national eating habits. These are the same potatoes we use today in everything from French fries to potato chips to baked potatoes to cream of potato soup.
Awesome. Great work by Alexandra Erin here.

That site made my morning and I look forward to more scienterrific work.
Oh, that site is hysterical. More, more!
That site is like the Stephen Colbert of blogs. I am in love....totally being linked to on my blog.
I'm also going to link it.
"Ooo, that's good satire!"
********
Not only will I eat your baloney, I'll bust it, too.
This had me laughing my ass off - at last, some biting pro-fat satire. I haven't heard of Alexandra Erin, but she's hilarious.
I am Irish and I like a good potato.

Nothing cuts through the bullshit like humor. Give this gal a medal!
I gotta laugh - my ancesters came over from Ireland during that same famine mentioned in the article.
