BFB Think Tank: Chicago, November 10th!
Ladies and gentlemen, I'm pleased to announce the first BFB Think Tank!
Saturday, November 10th
9am - 1pm
Harold Washington Library
Downtown Chicago
The Deal
Collectively we've all been frustrated with a lack of progress in fat rights. This is a first attempt from BFB to move beyond just talking and instead, acting.
The agenda of this session is being hammered out over the next couple of weeks. But we'll definitely be putting together Actual Game Plans on what we need to do collectively, our skillsets, and when things need to happen. I expect to come out of this Think Tank with at least one plan of action that we can all partake in.
The Location
Chicago's Harold Washington Library is a gorgeous building on the south end of Chicago's Loop. Easily accessible by public transit (Green, Orange, Pink, Brown lines) and car (corner of State & Congress), it's a nice central location for our discussions.
How to Sign Up
If you are interested in attending, you must RSVP via email with the number of people attending as well as your BFB member name(s).
There is no charge for this event but, if you want to donate a buck or two towards the facility rental costs, that would be appreciated!
Emails with agendas and more detailed information on our facility will be sent once your registration is confirmed!
And a Note
Due to our contract with the Library, this event is not open to the general public. Thus, you must be a registered BFB member in order to attend the event.
If you have any questions please ask them in the Forum thread or right here!

Is there a specific place at the library we should go? Or should I just look for all the cool people?
Yep, there's a specific place and that will be provided via email to the attendees once you've said you're a-coming!
Devil. This is the closest an Official Fat Thing has been hosted to me (NOTHING happens near Missouri anymore) and I'm still unable to attend. It sounds exciting, though - keep us all updated on The Plans!
Oi, me too! Moving to Chicago!
Is there a deadline for signing up? I'd love to come, but there's no way I'd be able to make it down there from Madison by 9 in the morning. *sigh*
Yeah, the trip from Madison would equal an early morning for sure. But!
The deadline for registering - which I obviously didn't reveal earlier - is November 1st. I'll amend the original posts to note this.
What a lovely initiative this is! Unfortunately, crossing the big pond right now is strictly reserved for my dreams at night, but go Paul just the same for organizing this, I'll be with you in spirit.
zomg, so glad you are having this in Chicago. I have to work some things out, but I definitely plan to be there.
What about a video conferencing session that some of us in the UK can do with you all? Even if it is a simple web cam with a mic in the middle of the table would be awesome. I would love to be able to participate.
I should be in the Chi-Town area. . . . In December. . . . Passing through. . . . On my way to Montana. Of Course.
I'll second rachel on the Vid/Web conferencing though. Don't own a Webcam but, for this? I would DEFIANTLY invest as well as cram the skills/info needed to operate it into me low bit-rate wetware.
If all else fails, might I suggest recording for Blog/podcast? Or, dare I hope, a streaming 'cast? It does put an extra burden on you guys (Organizers), however it might pay off down the line ("OK-OK, calm down folks!! If you wanna know what was discussed, go to the archived 'Cast. It's all right there").
A live video or audio feed is unlikely, but recording it is quite possible. I will look into that, and thanks for the suggestion!
