2008 is our year!

I hope everyone had a relaxing and fun holiday season.

Thinking back to last year, there was a strong feeling of discontent floating about the fatosphere with regards to NAAFA and ISAA, the two primary organizations of the movement. Everyone wondered what they were doing, where they were, and why we should support them.

A few people including me thought that we could work towards something better. Something that certainly respected and acknowledged the trails that these organizations have blazed but looked towards the future. Something that could move and operate faster. Something that would light a fire under the movement.

The first Think Tank in Chicago in November was invigorating. There was a real electricity in the air - there was a feeling that we could do this, we should do this, and let's make it happen. We set a number of goals for a 3-6 month period and went forth from there.

Now we're here in 2008, after the holidays, and it's time to take action.

Shortly I'll be reaching out to people who have volunteered to be project managers to discuss formal mini-goals and what people are available to help. We'll be needing people of all skill sets and talents, from writers to designers to lawyers.

That means that if you're interested in something, and want to contribute, now's the time to let everyone know!

This is a tough, tough thing we're fighting for. But it's right. It's about equality, it's about justice, and it's about time. The movement deserves a strong and visible organization to promote our cause - let's work together to make COFRA that organization.
